You and your friend (f/n) Circle each other, intensely staring at one another, like boxers in a ring. "It's mine!" you say, pulling the bucket closer to you, sending the cool pool water splashing up your body and onto your face.
"But I had it first!" (f/n) counters, pulling the bucket back towards herself.
"IT'S MY MAGICAL BUCKET, NOT YOURS!" You use all your strength to try and get the bucket and almost slip on the bottom of the pool that's stationed in your backyard.
"I. AM. A. GUINEA PIG!" Her face goes super serious and you get distracted. She just might be full on insane. Then again you just called a bucket magical. But she was talking about an animal! No wonder you two were friends.
"What?" You ask and she takes the opportunity to take the bucket from you while you're too focussed on your thoughts.
"NO!" You watch as she throws it over the side of the pool and hear the thud of it hitting the ground. Not the bucket! And of course this is the moment that you see a giant ant scaling the dry part on the inside of the pool. You attempt to flick it away but are unsuccessful. This would usually be the moment when you would use your bucket to get it out. Unfortunately for you though, your friend had thrown it out. Why? Why couldn't this ant go to somebody else's pool! "Just fall already! Or die! Or better yet do both!"
"How's that working out for ya over there?" You can hear the smirk she wears in her voice.
"Well you took away my magical bucket! Now how am I supposed to kill the bugs!" You yell at the top of your lungs, not caring if anyone else is listening. Your not sure why you always called the bucket magical, but there was no going back now. You two were the perfect pair.
"Oh fine," She retrieves the bucket and throws it at you. You pick it up and start to get the ant on the inside. You shake the bucket on the outside of the pool.
"Oh just get off! This is my bucket!" The giant ant finally falls off and you relax.
"Good job (y/n), that was absolutely fantastic."
"Oh shut up." You shove your plastic bucket under the water and stick your feet inside of it. You make your way over to your friend by hopping like a bunny, fighting to stay upright in the four foot deep pool.
"What the hell are you doing?"
"I'm hopping." You reply, simply stating the fact. You both break out into laughter and you can't help but wonder what other people would think if they saw you right now...probably something along the lines of 'those girls need a really good doctor'. As your lost in your thoughts your friend kicks your bucket, sending you flying backwards with a yelp of surprise. "Ah! My feet are cold without the bucket!"
"What? Where do you even come up with these things?!" (f/n) laughs as she takes the nearby pool noodle and positions in under herself like a chair.
"Oh who knows." You look up at the blue sky above you, letting silence fall over the two of you. That doesn't last long.
"Did you know that apparently when I speak in a British accent I sound like Alois Trancy from Black Butler?"
"Really?" You laugh, you know that your friend hates that character. "Let me hear!"
"I can't do it on command!"
"Just let me hear!" You beg with a huge smile on your face. You just had to hear if it was true!
"Fine." She takes a breath before continuing. "Olè! Claude!" She shouts at the top of her lungs before laughing.
"Oh my gosh, you totally do!"
"Whatever, you are like 110% Mey-Rin you klutz!" That you couldn't really deny.
"I am rather clumsy, yes I am!" You do your best Mey-Rin impression and the two of you burst out in laughter, however this is cut short by the voice of your grumpy neighbour Levi Ackerman. He stand on his deck, looking over the fence at the two of you.
"Oi! Would you brats shut the hell up! I've got work to get done!" He was young, around you age, but he always acted so serious. You can hear him swearing as the two of you snicker at him.
"Hey!" You shout, catching his attention once again. "Watch your profanity!"
"Oh just shut up already." And with that he disappears back into his house again.
"Well somebody needs an attitude adjustment." You mumble under your breath. You're standing there, staring at your neighbour's house when you feel something bounce off of your head. You turn and see (f/n) grinning while holding the (f/c) ball of yours. "Hey!"
She throws the ball at you, and you whip it at her, this time it bounces off of her head and you feel satisfied. You continue the game until you accidently send it flying out of the pool. "No! Not Timothy!" Apparently you had a name for everything today.
"Timothy is gone now (y/n)," (f/n) puts her hand on your shoulder. "so deal with and have some fun."
"I'm hungry." You state, heading over towards the pool ladder. "Oh! We have pizza! We can eat it in the pool!" You bring out a pizza box and hand a piece to (f/n) through the railing of your deck, barely managing to keep it out of the water.
"Oh yeah, this seems like a great plan." (f/n) takes the pizza and immediately starts eating. You grab one for yourself before joining her in the pool. You smile as you move your hand through the water, watching the water move in waves. "Um, what are you doing?"
"I'm making an ocean." You say it as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
"Oh, I'm sure that you are." You giggle at this and finish eating your pizza. You were glad that (f/n) was such a good friend. You could say pretty much anything to her and she wouldn't judge you. At least not out loud. But you really didn't care, it's not like she would be telling anybody. You look down and spot something in the water. Forming a cup with your hands you throw it out of the pool with a small yelp. "What was that?"
"I don't know but it was crunchy!" You say, and then you realize it was probably pizza. Oh well. You don't hear (f/n)'s response because you look up to see Levi staring at you through his window. He does not look pleased. You make eye contact with him and give him a little wink. He turns his head away, staring at whatever he's working on. "Dang, Ackerman's tense today."
"When is he not?" (f/n) snickers.
"Well, I’ve got to give you that one." You pull a pair of goggles that are sitting nearby on your face. You dunk your head under the water and stare at your surroundings.
"Hey are you hungry again?" (f/n) asks you again, and you can tell she wants you to say yes simply because she wants food.
"Nah, but give it twenty minutes."
"Oh, what time is it?" You grab your phone and check the time, flinging off the goggles as you go.
   "Five thirty."
   "Oh shoot! I gotta go!"
"Oh-okay bye." She's gone out the back gate quicker than you can get the words out and you sigh. You can never keep track of that girl. You float in your pool all alone. Well at least Ackerman is happy now. You two talked every once in a while, but you aren't close. He's always by himself in that house. It's owned by his uncle, but Kenny Ackerman was never one to play by the rules. Even when it came to raising a child. Levi was a bit of a loner at school too. Didn't he ever get lonely? Right now you were lonely. And bored. Hmmmm...maybe you should pay him a visit.
You hop out of your pool and head towards the Ackerman house, shivering in the cool wind. You walk up to the white door and knock once before opening the door and stepping inside the beautiful, clean house. You had noticed that Levi like to keep things clean but this was like really clean. Not something that you'd find when a teenage boy lives by themselves most of the time in a big house. White walls and floorboards swept until not a speck of dirt remained. It even smells fresh and clean. You scan the entryway and when you look down you find a puddle forming and...muddy footprints. On the white rug. Oh no. You must have walked through the dirt when you were coming out from your backyard. You're dead. You hear Levi moving around upstairs and you run out of the house, not bothering to close the door behind you. You run as fast as your legs can carry out away from the house and towards your backyard. Where to hide! He surely would come looking for you right? After all he likes his house spotless. And you were the clutz who makes messes everywhere you go. You jump in the pool and wait. And wait. Maybe-
"(Y/N)!" Levi shouts from next door. There it is. "Where are you!"
Well there's no way you're answering that. You watch as Levi step into your yard, almost stepping in the mud himself but he avoids it with grace that makes you jealous. You press your back against the pool wall and slide down. Your head slips under the water and you hold your breath. Levi walks up to the pool right behind you. You stay still as long as possible, but you have to breathe. You raise your head just high enough to take a breath but Levi grabs both of your shoulders and pulls you up to face him. You're so close to his face that you see his features differently than you ever have before. His blue-grey eyes are a gorgeous colour and they hold so much emotion. His angular nose is flawless and his pink lips look soft. His black hair hangs down, almost touching your face. How could you have never noticed his flawless face was this beautiful before? Wait. So NOT what you should be thinking about right now. Levi is angry right now, and he's really strong.
   "Uh, Levi?" You swallow hard.
"Do you realize what you've done?" You bite your lips and look downwards. "You ruined my mat. My white mat."
"I'm really, really sorry." The words fall out of your mouth as you stare into those angry eyes of his. "I'll buy you a new one." He sighs and loosens his grip on you. You hang your head feeling upset. He's really angry about this. You could get his mind off of the mess though. You wrap your arms around his muscular shoulders and when you pull away he looks slightly confused. You smile and pull him towards you causing him to lose balance and fall face first into the water. He comes back up and rubs the water out of his eyes. He sweeps the dark hair out of his face and stares at you.
"What the hell was that?" He snaps at you but you just smile.
"Come on Levi, it's okay to have fun sometimes." His face tells you that he's unimpressed. Maybe you made a mistake. He doesn't respond to you and you slowly make your way over to him. "Levi? Look, I'm sorry I shouldn't have-"
You're surprised when the cold water of the pool hits your face. "Relax (y/n), it's okay to have sometimes."
"Levi!" You laugh and push him lightly. You swear you see his lips twitch. Almost like he's forming a smile. You realize then that you'd never seen him smile. It's hard to think that he's never been able to show that emotion. After all, you're constantly laughing and smiling with yourends without a care in the world.
Levi then pushes you down into the water and you close your eyes. You feel him grab your arms and pull you up to where you can breathe again. You blink away the water from your eyes and see those amazing eyes staring into yours again. Everything seems still for a moment and then you feel Levi's lips interlocking with yours. It's like nothing you've ever felt before. Eventually you break apart and you can't help but let your lips spread into a smile, even Levi seems to have a hint of happiness on his features. He pulls you close to him and wraps his arms around you. You don't know why he does this, but you return and accept it all the same. His arms hold you tight and you look up at him. He turns his head to look at you until your noses touch. You lean in and share another kiss. This one feels more sure, more passionate. Your lips move together as your bodies press up to each other and your heart flutters in your chest. You had never realized how muscular he was. You don't want this to ever end. Levi was...perfect.
You open your eyes when you feel yourself being dragged through the water. Levi lifts you up at the ladder and carries you over and across the yard. "Uh, Levi?" He doesn't say anything, but continues carrying you towards his front door. He kicks off his wet shoes and steps inside his house. He sets you down on his ruined mat and brings towels back for you. He wraps you up and smiles down at you. Well, it's not really a smile but it's as close as Levi is possibly going to get. "Levi?"
   "Yeah?"
"Why don't you ever smile?" His eyebrows pull together as he looks down at your face. The only sound for a while is the water dripping onto the floor.
"I guess that I've just had no reason to for a long time." You remember that his father had never been there and that his mother and two close friends had been in a car accident together about four or five years ago. He was the only survivor and he was sent to live with his uncle as your next door neighbour. He had never even met the man. At least that's what you'd heard from people at school. The two of you had only talked for short periods of time and not very often before, and even then it was mostly you doing the talking. You had always wanted to ask him about the accident, but didn't want to make him upset. You told yourself that you'd ask him when the two of you grew closer, but you never did. Obviously today has been a major turning point for you relationship. But you didn't need to ask him. His past has left him scarred and some might say emotionally damaged. But you didn't mind. There had been the parts you knew about and the parts that you didn't. But you didn't need to know.
"Well I hope that changes real soon." He sighs but nods.
"Me too." You give him a small smirk which he returns. "(y/n)?"
   "Yes?"
   "Take off your swim suit."
   "What?!"
"It's dripping all over. Take it off."
"No," You laugh at his excuse. It's a lot different than what most guys would say. You liked that about him. But you still weren't stripping. You just had your first interaction that lasted more than two minutes for goodness sake!
   "Why not?"
   "Levi!"
"Tch, fine." He kisses your forehead making your chest tighten with excitement and a bit of nervousness.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Levi changes into a dry pair of clothes and brings you down an oversized shirt, telling you to change too. And so you wrap your suit into the towel and come out of the bathroom wearing his shirt. He sits on the living room couch. You walk over to him and stare down at his figure sprawled out on the cushions. He sits up and grabs you around the waist, pulling you down onto the couch. You let out a surprised yelp and then a giggle. You land on top of him and he pulls you close to him in his strong arms. You give him a poke on his nose and smirk. He raises an eyebrow at you and you laugh for the millionth time that day. The two of you share one more small kiss and when you pull away you're a little surprised.
   Because he's smiling at you.
This story was inspired by true events(except for the Levi parts obviously).

So this story plot not only belongs to me, but also to my friend. Her account name is 2235emily. (And I'm sad to say that we actually said a lot of the stupid things in this story).

I don't own Attack on Titan.
